1. Council Tax Support changes from April 2018

Outcome of consultation

Over the autumn of 2017 we consulted existing Council Tax Support (CTS) customers, Council Tax payers and stakeholders about the 3 proposed changes to the working-age CTS scheme.

You can see the results from the completed questionnaires.

The proposals were approved at Full Council on Wednesday 13 December 2017.

Why are these changes needed?

  • to simplify the Scheme for people getting Universal Credit
  • to allow us to disregard the Bereavement Support Payment
  • to allow us to disregard charitable payments, for example payments from the We Love Manchester fund

If you are affected by the changes

We feel that the three changes are all beneficial to you and will contact you if your Council Tax Support will be affected.
As this is a change to our policy you do not have a right to appeal against it.
