We are have recently spent £35,000 of sports money in Budleigh Salterton. All of this funding has come from new homes created in Budleigh Salterton, called section 106 agreements.
These are joint projects with Budleigh Salterton Town Council.
In 2013 we gathered in ideas from the community on how £35,000 of Section 106 money from new homes in Budleigh Salterton should be spent. We received five eligible, affordable and possible ideas from the community and from sporting organisations.
308 residents of Budleigh Salterton voted on which of the proposals should be funded. The successful ideas were:
- An all-age, free to use outdoor gym. This would be traditional gym-type equipment suitable for outdoor use. Project cost: £15,000.
Update: Residents got to decide the final design of the outdoor gym. This was installed over two sites, on The Green and at Lime Kiln car park.
- Widening the footpath across The Green and turning one side of it into a cycle path. Project cost: £20,000.
Update: This has happened and was opened last year.
