What does the Standards Committee do?
All elected councillors (and any co-opted members) are subject to the code of conduct for councillors. The Standards Committee promotes and maintains high standards of conduct by councillors, co-opted members, and council officers.
The committee has a sub committee, which conducts hearings into allegations of breach of the code of conduct following an investigation report referred by the monitoring officer.
Full details of the responsibilities of the Standards Committee are in the constitution.
Andrew Moulding is the Chairman.
Substitute committee members: Paul Diviani (Conservative), Dawn Manley (Independent group) and Brenda Taylor (Liberal Democrat).
The committee also contains non-voting independent members: Martin Goscomb and Tim Swarbrick; and non-voting parish councillor members: Councillors Frances Newth. One vacancy still stands for parish/town council representative.
