1. Purpose of the policy
We take seriously the issue of safeguarding vulnerable adults. Within the course of providing our services, or contacting local residents, we have the opportunity to make positive impacts in improving vulnerable adults lives and also protecting them from illness, injury and abuse whether self inflicted or inflicted by others.
We must not allow concerns about safety to stifle our positive impacts but we should follow simple guidelines to protect ourselves and vulnerable adults. There is a necessity for all agencies to be vigilant for abuse of vulnerable adults, to recognise our duty of care, and to ensure that any concerns are acted upon, recorded and followed through.
