17. Powers of entry

12.1     Access to property is normally achieved by informal means without prior announcement. In the interests of business efficiency and if appropriate, an appointment will be made with the occupier unless the giving of such notice would be counterproductive to the reason for inspection or would be impracticable given the circumstances.

12.2     In appropriate circumstances, a Notice of Entry will be served or an application made to the Magistrates Court for a warrant to enter, e.g. if access is refused, or the premises are vacant, or giving prior notice would be counterproductive or impracticable.
