5. Situations where we will not undertake a major adaptation

Recommended adaptations will be considered on the grounds of reasonableness and whether it is practical taking into account the type, age and condition of the property.

Where major adaptations are not practical we will work closely with tenants to find a more suitable property to enable the tenant to transfer.

We will not undertake requests for major adaptations as a result of an emergency or discharge from hospital or nursing home.  In these cases the tenant will be expected to transfer to a suitable property to meet their needs.

We will not undertake adaptations where the tenant is under occupying or over-crowding their home (except in exceptional circumstances) or are waiting for a transfer to another property.

We have a large number of 'adapted' properties including ground floor flats and bungalows.  We will not provide major adaptations to family housing or any flat above ground floor, other than in exceptional circumstances.
