We expect our managers to be competent in all the areas listed under ‘mandatory skills training for managers’ below.

Please discuss with your line manager which courses you need to complete to effectively undertake your role and to ensure you have the ‘minimum skills we expect managers to have’.

Other than for ‘essential/mandatory training for managers’, training needs will vary depending on what training the manager has previously attended,  previous experience and individual development needs.

Please note, our Recruitment and Selection Policy outlines that anyone involved in recruitment should have received the relevant training through East Devon’s learning module or training course.

E-Learning - Mentor4Managers

In addition to the range of courses available via our E-learning provider there is also something called Mentor4Managers.  This provides learning in the form of short films that take people through subjects such as ‘the importance of humour’, ‘dealing with poor performance’, ‘running effective meetings’, prioritising projects’. In all there are over 60 short films covering a wide variety of topics. They are excellent and provide a quick shot of training for busy people! See the E-Learning page for access to learning nexus
