1. Temporary traffic order in Sidmouth for Tour of Britain
The Tour of Britain 2016 is coming to Sidmouth on Friday 9th September. As well as this, Sid Valley Cycle Club, in conjunction with Sidmouth Town Council are planning a town centre race on Thursday 8th September.
This means that the majority of the roads around Sidmouth town centre will be closed from 11am on the 8th September with parking restrictions commencing at 9am. These closures and restrictions will effectively make all the taxi ranks in the town centre inaccessible for the duration of the events on Thursday and Friday.
This year a temporary taxi rank will be located in the parking bays at the top of May Terrace, Sidmouth (which was the same location as 2013).
The last update we had was that from 9am on Thursday 8th September until approximately 2.30pm on Friday 9th September, no-one will be able to use the bays on May Terrace except for taxis.
Signs and cones will be in place to highlight this and we understand that Civil Enforcement Officers will be in town during the day to try and ensure this operates as expected. If other cars or vehicles park or use the temporary rank (or any of the usual ranks at any other time) then the Civil Enforcement Officers should be contacted via Devon County Council.
Residents and businesses affected by the Tour of Britain route will be contacted by Devon County Council and Devon County Council have confirmed they have now extended cover for the temporary rank to both days.
