Council’s SWITCH youth groups can boogie on down in Exmouth, Axminster and Honiton
The Community Development team at East Devon District Council has some fun leisure activities planned for members of their Exmouth and Axminster SWITCH youth groups during the forthcoming half term holiday break (16-18 February).
Monday 16 February, Clayton House, Littleham, Exmouth, 10am-3.30pm. Two dance workshops each covering four different genres: bollywood, flamenco, streetdance and body contact hip hop. This is only open to members of the Littleham SWITCH group.
Tuesday 17 February, Millwey Community Centre, Millwey Rise, Axminster, 10am-3.30pm. Two dance workshops each covering four different genres: bollywood, flamenco, streetdance and body contact hip hop. This is only open to members of the Millwey SWITCH group.
Wednesday 18th February, Thelma Hubert Gallery, Elmfield House, 31 Dowell Street, Honiton, 10am-1pm. The Community Development team will be taking young people from both the Littleham and Millwey SWITCH groups to the Thelma Hulbert gallery for some photographic experiments.
Councillor Jill Elson, Portfolio holder for Sustainable Homes and Communities at East Devon District Council said:
The Community Development team does a brilliant job with the SWITCH youth groups, which help raise the aspirations of young people on the Millwey and Littleham estates. SWITCH provides safe places for youngsters to hang out, as well as training and new experiences, which in turn helps channel energy into more positive directions.
The photographic experiments workshop is continuing our longstanding relationship with the Thelma Hulbert Gallery and the session is funded by the Arts Council to bring people into the gallery who would not normally come.
