Council and community work hard to ensure local event will be a success
A free family-friendly community festival has been organised by East Devon District Council’s SWITCH team to take place in Axminster on Saturday 13 June on the Millwey Rise estate. The event will run from 1pm to 4pm, on the estate playing field.
The festival will feature a selection of stalls and activities for family members of all ages to enjoy. Local balloon modelling artist Paul Hayward will be showcasing his skills in a series of demonstrations, while local mother and toddler group Monday Monkeys will have a stand.
Health and Local Food for Families (HALFF) will be offering lots of nutritious ideas for keen sandwich makers with their ever popular ‘Build a Sandwich’ stand.
East Devon’s Countryside team will be on hand offering nature-related arts and crafts, while dog lovers can take advantage of the free dog tagging and pet care advice provided by the Council’s Environmental Health team.
Axminster Police Community Support Officers, the Axminster Library, the fire brigade and the local Children’s Centre will all be attending and can answer people’s questions as well as provide useful information.
Councillor Jill Elson, Portfolio holder for Sustainable Homes and Communities said:
These festivals are always positive events and have already proved a great success across the district. They help to foster community spirit and bring people of all ages together. The SWITCH team puts in a tremendous amount of hard work and effort organising these events and I would like to thank our service teams as well as other contributing organizations for ensuring that everyone who comes has a wonderful time.
