East Devon District Council Countryside Team Celebrate World Oceans Day

The team encourages everyone to enjoy the coastline as part of this international day

East Devon District Council's Countryside team is encouraging people to mark National World Oceans Day on June 8 by exploring the district's beautiful coastline.

The global event raises the profile of the environmental importance of our coasts and how we can better protect our shores.

Whether you take a walk along the South West Coast path or book a place on a Countryside event, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the coast and learn how the coastline benefits the local environment and your own health and wellbeing.

Cllr Iain Chubb, East Devon District Council's Countryside Portfolio Holder, said:

We are extremely lucky to live alongside the stunning Jurassic coast in East Devon. The Countryside team do a fantastic job managing sections of the South West Coast path for the enjoyment of thousands of tourists and local people who walk along it.

Countryside events are a great way for people to get out and explore the wonders of the coast, there are a variety of events on offer  from rock pooling at Ladram to Mud walks in Exmouth! We hope that World Oceans Day will inspire people to take part in these events and that young people will be educated and excited about protecting our coastline for years to come.
