Exmouth Town Hall still accessible for district council services, including Housing, Council Tax and Housing Benefits
In preparation for East Devon District Council’s planned refurbishment of Exmouth Town Hall, Exmouth Town Council and Exmouth Volunteers Service will be relocating from the town hall on 19 September 2016 and will move to separate temporary premises within Exmouth. It is anticipated that the refurbishment will take around 38 weeks to complete.
The town council will be taking up residence at at 44 Rolle Street, Exmouth EX8 2SG. Their telephone and electronic contact details will remain the same and customers can still telephone the town council on: 01395 276167 or email them via: firstname.lastname@example.org. The town council's web address also remains unchanged.
The Devon Registration Service will leave the town hall on 26 November and the registrars will be based at Larkbeare House, Topsham Road, Exeter EX2 4NG. The telephone number for appointments remains the same – 0345 155 1002.
The Citizens Advice will continue to offer a drop-in service at the town hall from Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 12.30 pm and 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm.
The town hall will, however, remain open from 19 September, to allow East Devon District Council to continue to offer the following services: Housing Needs, Council Tax and Housing Benefits. Opening hours for East Devon services, while the refurbishment is taking place, will be: 9am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
East Devon District Council is responsible for street cleansing, housing needs, council tax, housing benefit, kerbside waste and recycling and environmental services. It is also responsible for strategic planning policies for all development (including housing and employment sites) via its Local Plan. Drop in appointments will continue to be available at Exmouth Town Hall for housing needs, housing benefit and council tax support. Exmouth Town Council is one of three tiers of local government serving the town and works in partnership with the district and county councils to ensure provision of appropriate local services and amenities. It has direct responsibility for tourist information, Gorfin Hall, Exmouth Festival, festoon lighting along the seafront, the Christmas Cracker, Christmas lights, and offers proof of life services for foreign pensions and acts as a planning consultee for planning applications made within the town wards. Exmouth Town Council will continue to provide all of these services along with its other statutory duties from its new premises at Rolle Street.
