Prepare for the big day by making natural crafts
From willow stars and garlands to beautiful Christmas wreaths – East Devon District Council’s Countryside team is laying on a series of festive craft making events next month just in time for Christmas.
Windrush Willow will be running a Willow Christmas decorations workshop in the Reed Base at Seaton Wetlands on Saturday 3 December from 10am to 1pm with an expert on hand to teach how to make garlands, wreaths and stars. The sessions are open to everyone.
All materials will be provided and everything you make can be taken home to decorate your home or to give as gifts this Christmas. There are a limited number of places which can be booked for £22 each.
Later in the month at Seaton Wetlands on Sunday 11 December from 10am to 12 noon and 2pm to 4pm the Countryside team will be running wreath making sessions using fir cones, dried orange and other natural materials. Wreath making will also take place at Cranbrook on Saturday 10 December from 2pm to 4pm at the Younghayes Community Centre.
Carols, mince pies and mulled wine (or non-alcoholic punch) will be provided to add to the festive cheer! Spaces for wreath making are £12 per person and must be booked in advance.
The courses at Seaton Wetlands take place in the Reed Base in the heart of nature reserve. There is free car parking through Seaton Cemetery. After attending an event at Seaton Wetlands take a stroll around the wetlands and enjoy refreshments from the Discovery Hut which is manned by volunteers from 11am to 3pm on a Saturday and Sunday during the winter.
