East Devon working in partnership with Wessex Resolutions to provide fixed rate home improvement loans

Homeowners in East Devon who need to replace a broken or inefficient boiler may be eligible for assistance through funds from East Devon District Council. The council is working in partnership with local not-for-profit organisation Wessex Resolutions to deliver fixed rate loans for home improvements.

The average lifespan of a boiler is 10-15 years and the Energy Saving Trust estimates that if you replace an old G-rated boiler with a modern A-rated boiler with a full set of heating controls, you could save around £340 a year on your gas bill.

Councillor Jill Elson, East Devon District Council’s portfolio holder for sustainable homes and communities, said:

This scheme helps to support and assist homeowners across East Devon, particularly those who are struggling to heat their homes more efficiently and effectively.  It is helping people to stay in their own homes for longer. The recycling of these funds is such a great benefit to the East Devon community and in particular to those people in need.

Emma Lower of Wessex Resolutions said:

Being able to help the local people to keep their families warm and healthy means a huge amount to us and we are so pleased that the local council can offer this money because the need is unquestionably there.

Loan funds are recycled for the benefit of the community. Each time a repayment is made the money goes back into the original lending pot and is then available to help more people in need. Spreading the cost of a replacement boiler can be a real benefit to people who can’t afford the unexpected cost upfront but need to have a working boiler right away.

Loans are fixed at 4.3% APR representative.
