Expanded car park will offer 112 spaces including 30 for cars with trailers with free unhitched trailer parking over the Easter holidays

East Devon District Council will be supporting the new improved launching facilities at Mamhead slipway in Exmouth with an extension to the existing car park at Camperdown Terrace, allowing more cars towing trailers to park there.

The decision to increase car parking provision at Mamhead has been made possible thanks to Devon County Council moving out of their compound at Camperdown Terrace, allowing East Devon to take back control of this area.

The expanded car park will have 112 spaces, including almost 30 spaces suitable for cars towing trailers.

In addition, over the summer months an area of the car park will be zoned off for free unhitched trailer parking. This will be a flexible arrangement, which can be expanded to cope with additional demand as necessary.

A planning application has been submitted for the change of use, which is currently being considered.

If the planning application is approved, construction will begin in May 2017, so that the new improved facility is available for use over the summer.

In the meantime, the council’s car parking service is opening a section of the former DCC compound for free trailer parking over the Easter holidays (ending on 18 April).

In addition, the council will be allowing its customers to use the compound as an overflow car parking amenity with the same tariff and conditions as the main car park over the Easter Holidays.
