Service change already introduced in Exmouth and will be rolled out district-wide from June 2017
Find out more about East Devon’s new recycling and waste service at two information days which are coming up in Seaton and Honiton this month.
Recycling officers will be on hand to explain the new service on Friday April 21 at Seaton Tesco store and on Friday April 28 at Honiton Tesco store. Both events are being held from 10am to 2pm.
The council is holding a series of information days about the changes, so if you are unable to attend, please look out for further dates coming up.
From mid-June, all East Devon households will be able to recycle more items than ever before which will be collected from the kerbside every week. The council will be collecting cardboard, cartons/Tetra Paks, plastics including pots, tubs, bottles and trays and small electrical items. As so much more is being recycled, waste collections will be carried out every three weeks.
Over the next few weeks letters outlining the changes will be sent to all residents about the changes.
The new service has already begun in Exmouth where almost 17,000 households are now recycling more than ever before. The service started in the town in mid-February, and within the first six weeks of the new system residents were throwing away 15% less than they had done before and recycling almost 60% of their waste.
Further information about the new service is available on the council’s website – www.eastdevon.gov.uk/onboard and includes a full list of what residents will be able can recycle. You can also follow the council’s social media service on Facebook at East Devon District Council and @eastdevon on twitter.
