Deadline for booking a place at council’s tenants’ conference is 20 June 2017

East Devon District Council tenants are being invited to a Healthy Living and Wellbeing annual conference at the Baptist Church Hall, The Beacon, Whitford Road, Kilmington, East Devon, on Tuesday 11 July 2017.

The event, which runs from 10am to 4.30pm, is arranged by East Devon’s tenants for the council’s tenants and the programme will deal with issues that affect these tenants.

Topics to be highlighted include healthy cooking and wellbeing courses, how to reduce isolation, growing your own food and keeping fit. There will be plenty of opportunities throughout the day to discuss issues with officers and councillors who will be attending.

There will also be two awards presented to people who tenants think deserve recognition for the work they do for others. The first award will be for a tenant, nominated by tenants and others, for the help they give to neighbours or to the wider community. The second will be an award for a member of staff nominated by tenants and other staff members, for the friendly, efficient and helpful customer service they provide.

The deadline for booking a place/making nominations is: Tuesday 20 June 2017. Any tenants who would like to attend can make their booking either by contacting East Devon District Council’s Tenant Participation team on 01395 517453 or emailing

A free lunch and raffle will also be provided on the day

Mark Williams, East Devon District Council’s Chief Executive, said:

Our conferences are always popular and very informative. They are an ideal opportunity to find out more about the things that really matter to our tenants. It’s also great for the unsung heroes of our community to be recognised through the awards. Why not speak to your friends and neighbours and decide between you who you think deserve these awards?
