1. Introduction

Events on Council land

Whether you're a visitor or a local looking for somewhere special to hold your event, East Devon is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offering so much more than a simple event space.

Boasting breathtaking landscapes, stunning coastline, glorious beaches, picturesque parks and gardens; there are so many beautiful open spaces within the district to provide the perfect locations to hold community, commercial, corporate and private events.

We have created this guide to give you all the information you need to book an event on our land. We have included information on the application process, licenses, suggestions, documents, useful contacts and frequently asked questions to help you plan your event. We recommend that you read this guide thoroughly so that you know what is required from you as an event organiser.

In addition to reading this guide we recommend that you read, ‘The Purple Guide' published by The Events Industry Forum in consultation with the events industry. Its aim is to help those event organisers who are duty holders to manage health and safety, particularly at large-scale music and similar events.  The Health and Safety Executive was consulted in the production of the workplace health and safety parts of this publication.

We are committed to making East Devon an outstanding place and environment to live and visit and we want to ensure your event experience is an enjoyable one.  If you are unsure of which site would suit your event, or you would like more information, our friendly team will guide you through the process and ensure all legal and statutory requirements are met.

Please contact us at events@eastdevon.gov.uk to discuss your event.   We look forward to working with you
