Following the successful examination of the Dunkeswell Neighbourhood Plan, a referendum will be held on 19 October 2017. Residents will be asked the following question:
"Do you want East Devon District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Dunkeswell to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?"

Dunkeswell Parish Council as the qualifying body have prepared and submitted the Dunkeswell Neighbourhood Development Plan to East Devon District Council. The plan consultation concluded on Wednesday 10th May 2017.

In October 2012 Development Management Committee agreed to designate Dunkeswell Parish as a neighbourhood area. his was proposed by Dunkeswell Parish Council.
