Our validation document was the subject of consultation with the users of the service in May 2016.  Responses received were considered and revisions made to reflect those comments received. The revised document was then put to the Strategic Planning Committee on the 21st July 2016.  The committee formally adopted the validation check list for use from 1st August 2016.

The document details the information required to be submitted with applications before the local planning authority  can start formally considering the application.

Applications are open to public inspection and plans should clearly show the proposed works so they can be easily understood. Consideration of applications is likely to be delayed if requests for clarification have to be made.

It is also helpful to include in a covering letter, details of the background of the site, the submitted proposal, and key considerations.

For more detailed information on the above requirements please see the Government's publication on the validation of planning applications.
