1. Duty to co-operate

We have a duty to co-operate with neighbouring planning authorities and other bodies such as Natural England and the Environment Agency when planning for East Devon.

As part of our joint co-operative working across Devon authorities, we have formally endorsed a Devon wide protocol.

The Duty to Co-operate:  A Devon-wide co-operation protocol

The Statement of Compliance with this 'duty to co-operate' during the preparation of the New East Devon Plan 2006 to 2026 Proposed Submission (Publication) November 2012 may be viewed in the evidence library.

A joint 'duty to co-operate' statement has been agreed between West Dorset District Council and us. The joint duty to co-operate update statement on cross boundary issues at Uplyme/Lyme Regis November 2014.

Co-operation is ongoing and is integral to the work of the planning team.  The information below gives details of the main meetings where the duty to cooperate is an essential component in respect of future East Devon planning work.
