Sponsor 'Thank You Payment' application

This form should only be completed if you are hosting guests under the 'Homes for Ukraine' scheme and wish to claim the optional £500 (since 1, November) 'Thank You Payment'.

Please be aware East Devon District Council have decided to pay £500 per month regardless of the length of a guest’s stay which differs to the £350 for the first 12 months of a guest stay as set out in national guidance.

For the best user experience please complete this form using a laptop as we have recorded some issues with the form being completed on iPads and tablets.

Please note that payments are made one month in arrears from the date your guests arrived at your property, and can only be paid once the accommodation, welcome visit and DBS checks have been undertaken.

We are able to make a payment of £500 (since 1st November) for each full month that you are hosting guests in your home. To do this we will need details of your bank account. Please note that you will need to re-apply at the end of each month that your guest is living in your property to continue to receive your monthly payment. You must ensure you tell us if the individual or family you are hosting leaves.

This sponsor payment is available to sponsors for the duration of a guest’s Homes for Ukraine visa permission – up to 36 months for sponsors of guests on a 3 year Homes for Ukraine visa, and up to 18 months for guests on the new 18 month Homes for Ukraine visa (which came into effect on 19 February 2024). This is intended to support existing hosts, and to help new hosts to offer support to Ukrainians in the UK who may need a new place to stay, and to give guests who may need it more time to get ready to move into independent accommodation.

The payments will be tax free and should not affect the sponsor’s entitlement to benefits or council tax status.

If your guest will be absent temporarily

If your guest will be absent temporarily

Once you have notified the council of a guest’s absence your ‘thank you’ payments will be paused. You should notify the council when your guests return and your ‘thank you’ payments will be reinstated. When your payments restart, they will follow the usual monthly in arrears ‘thank you’ payment cycle.

The “Thank you” payment cycle restarts on the date the guest returns to the property.
