Feature Forest School – a new way of learning for pupils of Seaton Primary School
When Seaton Primary School Parent Teacher Association were on the hunt for new resources that would significantly enhance the health and wellbeing of the 300+ pupils, we were delighted to be able to help.
As successful applicants to our Small Community Grant in June 2022, Seaton Primary School were awarded £500 to contribute toward developing their forest area and investing in equipment.
The pupils of Seaton Primary School use the forest area for their Forest School sessions each week. These sessions encourage creative outdoor learning, help the children to connect to nature through the seasons, learn basic survival skills and ecological awareness and work together in small groups in all weathers.
With the funding, Seaton Primary School purchased new outdoor equipment and forest school resources to further improve the current (basic) equipment. This included new tarpaulins and shelters, wood screws for making things, outdoor wood working, hammocks and plants such as goji berries to make a forest garden and a wild food bank.
These additions have enhanced the forest school experience for the children and the forest area has become a great space for learning and enjoyment throughout the year. We are thrilled to have been a part of this epic wild adventure!
