1. Policy and Context

This policy outlines the principles of the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and the UK General Data Protection Regulations (UKGDPR) and identifies how East Devon District Council (EDDC) will comply with this legislation.

The processing of personal data is essential to many of the services and functions we carry out. In so doing we recognise the importance of the need to comply with the requirements of the data protection legislation and other relevant legislation which seeks to protect an individual’s fundamental rights and freedoms. This policy seeks to help ensure compliance with the relevant legislation when we process an individual’s personal data in relation to those services and functions and also when an individual seeks to exercise their rights in respect of their personal data.
