Queen's Green Canopy Project
The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.
70 oak trees to be planted in East Devon, celebrating Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
A total of 70 oak trees, marking The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, will be planted across East Devon this year.
East Devon District Council (EDDC) is celebrating the landmark event, which is a first for any British monarch, by gifting oak saplings, with a commemorative plaque, to every town and parish - with hopes planting can begin this March.
EDDC is working with councillors and local parish and town councils to find suitable locations for the English oaks which can also be enjoyed by the public.
It is hoped the commemorative oak trees, renowned for their longevity, strength, and unique position in the national landscape, will offer many other collective opportunities and serve as an important local ‘memory jogger’, recognising EDDC’s carbon neutral and environment priorities.
