7. Work starts

What we will do

We will undertake an inspection at this stage if so stated in your inspection service plan.

What you will need to do (including a builder, architect or agent acting for you)

You must notify us when work starts and when each relevant stages of work are ready for inspection as set out in the Inspection Service Plan or as otherwise advised/agreed with your Building Control Surveyor.

The Building Regulations do not specifically define start of works, but generally the start of any work which will form a permanent part of the notifiable building works such as footing excavation work, structural alterations work etc. would be considered a start. Site clearance prior to digging excavations for example would not constitute a start of work.

Timescale

You must notify us 2 days before work starts on site.

Fees

Inspection fees will be invoiced. You will usually receive your invoice within 1 month of the first inspection taking place.
