2. Why have you sent me a Business Rates bill when I don’t run a business?

“Business Rates” is the term commonly used for Non-Domestic Rates (NDR).

Rates are charged on

  • most non-domestic premises - predominantly business properties - such as shops, offices, pubs, warehouses and factories, but also on
  • non-business premises such as beach huts and car parking spaces.
