Guide Overview of Business Rates

1. How Business Rates are calculated

In England, Business Rates are worked out by multiplying the rateable value of a property set by the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) by the relevant Business Rates multiplier set by central government.

For 2022/23 and 2023/24:
the standard multiplier is 51.2p and
the small business rate multiplier is 49.9p.

Your bill may also be subject to transitional phasing.

If you think your rates are wrong check how they are calculated before contacting the VOA.
