On 06 October 2021 the government announced a new Household Support Fund grant would be made available to support those most in need this winter. The grant will be available until 31 March 2022.
East Devon has been allocated £142,286 of this funding by Devon County Council that will be administered by our Financial Resilience Team working in Revenues and Benefits.
The fund can be used for many different things such as help with food and utility costs as well as wider support needs.
We will use the Household Support Fund, alongside our other available discretionary funding, to help tackle poverty in our district and work towards rebuilding the financial resilience of those who are struggling financially, in line with East Devon’s Poverty Reduction Strategy.
How to apply
To apply for the fund you must be;
- Over the age of 16
- Live in East Devon (as your main residence)
- Be without sufficient resources to meet your immediate short-term needs
Applicants will be required to have a telephone interview with a Financial Resilience Officer to discuss their application in further detail.
Any awards made will normally be paid via vouchers or invoices being sent directly to East Devon District Council. We will only make a cash payment in exceptional circumstances and once all other payment options have been explored. Any cash payment agreed will be made directly into the applicant’s bank account.
Repeat applications will be considered on a case by case basis, however further awards made out of the fund may be dependent on other work and referrals to partner agencies/organisations with the agreement of the applicant.
