East Devon District Council's #StayLocalShopSafe campaign encourages East Devon residents to rediscover the high street and support local businesses

Reopening High Streets Safely

From today, it's back to business for many of our local stores and services.

Support your local High Streets and businesses by sharing our #StayLocalShopSafe campaign and visiting your local town centres.

EDDC's Streetscene team have rolled out a number of temporary public realm changes, including the provision of hand sanitiser stations, safety signage and pavement markings to ensure we stay safe. In addition, the Environmental Health team have recruited two COVID Compliance Officers whose role is to support local businesses.

Local residents are reminded to stay local and follow government safety guidance when returning to the shops.

Through the #StayLocalShopSafe campaign residents are encouraged to rediscover their local high street and to support local businesses, which in turn supports the local economy and protects local jobs.

Local businesses are encouraged to support the campaign by sharing messaging on social media and maintaining safety controls in store.

When visiting your High Street please follow the latest government guidance, regularly wash or sanitise your hands, wear a mask and maintain social distancing at all times. Rediscover your local high street.

Please #StayLocalShopSafe and support your #EastDevon High Street.

East Devon District Council (EDDC) received an allocation of £130,992 of funding from the European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020 to support the safe reopening of High Streets and town centres. The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government is the Managing Authority for European Regional Development Fund. Established by the European Union, the European Regional Development Fund helps local areas stimulate their economic development by investing in projects which will support innovation, businesses, create jobs and local community regenerations. The Reopening High Streets Safely Fund helps to put in place additional measures to support safe trading in public places, focussing on our town centres and high streets.
