2. This week's message from East Devon's Chief Executive
This week we have seen some glorious weather across East Devon and the temptation to head to the beach or explore our beautiful countryside has never been greater, but I wanted to ask you all to think twice this bank holiday weekend before doing so. We want to avoid a second spike in infections in the South West at all costs and we all need to play our role in achieving this.
Travelling to a second home or staying in temporary holiday accommodation is still not permitted, caravan and camping sites remain closed and overnight stays in a caravan or camper vans are not permitted.
It is also important to remember many of our shops and facilities remain closed and if you do head to the beach be aware, there are no RNLI lifeguards in operation.
If you do venture out for exercise it is important that you ensure you maintain social distancing rules and keep at least two metres away from other people, also avoid touching shared surfaces such as gates and stiles – and sanitise your hands regularly.
Maintaining people’s safety at this time remains our paramount concern and we thank you all for continuing to support one and other at this time. And if you are a potential visitor to the area sadly we are not quite able to roll out the welcome mat for you so we ask you to come back later when it is safe to do so.
Stay Safe and Stay Well
