The visit starts with an introduction to the nature reserve where you will be greeted by a Wild East Devon ranger who will introduce you to the fascinating nature and history of the wetlands. You will find out how the team work to protect and enhance the reserve’s wildlife and visitors will also have opportunity to quiz the warden about what can be found in the water, reeds and air as well as how the reserve is run.

Your guide will take you on a trail of discovery, well away from any crowds, to behind-the-scenes places where you can feel completely isolated and at ease and learn about the ins and outs of managing an award-winning nature reserve. Those booked on a walk could expect close encounters with insects, butterflies, nesting birds an much more. If the water vole theme is chosen visitors are likely to spot signs of the rare wetlands mammals, your guided walk with the warden includes a tour of the usually inaccessible habitat of the re-introduced water vole along the dramatic Axe Estuary.
