The visit starts with an introduction to the nature reserve where you will be greeted by a Wild East Devon ranger who will introduce you to the fascinating nature and history of the wetlands. You will find out how the team work to protect and enhance the reserve’s wildlife and visitors will also have opportunity to quiz the warden about what can be found in the water, reeds and air as well as how the reserve is run.
Your guide will take you on a trail of discovery, well away from any crowds, to behind-the-scenes places where you can feel completely isolated and at ease and learn about the ins and outs of managing an award-winning nature reserve. Those booked on a walk could expect close encounters with insects, butterflies, nesting birds an much more. The tour includes a visit to the usually inaccessible habitat of the re-introduced water vole along the dramatic Axe Estuary.
With a highly qualified and experienced nature reserve ranger leading the way - learn all about the fascinating variety of wildlife that call the wetlands home, local and natural history of the area, relax and reflect, stay healthy and enjoy this gentle form of exercise and practice mindful walking to aid with gaining greater perspective, clarity and balance.

Event aimed at everyone .
Guided walks are generally two hours in length and are suitable for most ability levels. Routes will follow flat, undulating wetland habitat which will include some uneven terrain.
Unfortunately the route is not wheelchair accessible.
