Upgrade your fireside log basket by making one yourself using traditional willow weaving methods
Learn how to weave willow with Richard from Windrush Willow.
The course starts with a Health and Safety briefing and an explanation of the tools and how to use them.
We will start with making two 3 through 4 round bases 10 -12” diameter.
We will stake up with 28 stakes. The upset will be 2 sets of 3 rod wale chasing each other starting on cut down tips to give 12 rods in total in the upset, the first lap will be a pull down wale. The sides will be French randed using a combination of over 2. Over 1 and double French Randing using 5fts. A top 4 rod wale using 16 rods, incorporating integral handles before a 5 rod behind 2 border. If time a foot will be added.
We assume you are a complete beginner and will gently guide you through each project.
Please bring a packed lunch.
Cost includes all willow materials, expert tuition and hot drinks, fresh fruit and biscuits throughout the day.
The class takes place in the peaceful Reed Base classroom in the heart of the Seaton Wetlands Nature Reserve.
