5. Applying for a re-rating visit

Businesses can ask for a re-visit to re-rate their Food Hygiene Rating if they have taken action to correct the non-compliances found at the time of inspection.

A business can make this request at any time, for a charge of £140.

In the application for a re-visit, businesses must show what improvements have been made.

An inspector will give a ‘new’ food hygiene rating based on the level of compliance that is found at the time of the re-visit. This can mean that the rating could go up, down or remain the same.

To apply for a re-visit inspection, complete the application form and submit the payment of £140. The re-visit will be carried out within three months of the payment of the fee.
