Service Apply to renew a riding establishment licence
Information about riding establishment licences is under running a riding establishment.
How to apply
If you hold a riding establishment licence this will need to be renewed before the expiry date each year.
Contact the environmental health team by phone, 01395 571517, or email environmentalhealth@eastdevon.gov.uk. If renewing a licence you must give at least 3 months notice.
Payments
You will need to pay a fee to renew your licence. Please make sure you are aware of how much this will cost.
You will also need to pay the vet's fee for inspecting the premises. We will ask you to pay this after the inspection has taken place.

You will need to enclose a current certificate of insurance for the business
Following your application we will arrange for a vet to inspect the premises.
The vet will send us their report and the licence then either be granted and we'll send you your licence in the post or it may be refused or have additional conditions added to it.
If your application is likely to be refused or have additional conditions added we will contact you.
Renewing your licence
You will need to apply to renew your riding establishment licence each year if you want to continue running the business.
What you can do if you haven't heard from us
It is in the public interest that we process your application before deciding if it can be granted. This means that you'll need to wait for our decision before you start operating. If after a month you haven't heard from us please contact us by email or telephone for an update.
What you can do if your application is unsuccessful
Please contact us to discuss why you have been refused a licence or if you think we have asked for an unreasonable condition.
Appeals
If you are not happy with our decision, you can appeal to the magistrates court. A court may give directions on the issue of a licence or on any conditions imposed.
