Natural England
Natural England promotes the protection and restoration of our natural world. They brings together the Countryside Agency, English Nature and the Rural Development Service.
Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF)
HLF funds projects that “conserve and enhance the UK’s diverse heritage”. A broad range of projects are funded that help support the connection of people and communities to the nation, regional and local heritage across the UK. Funding can be used for activities, repairs and conservation, professional fees and digital outputs.
Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA)
DEFRA can provide support and advise for funding projects. They aim to improve and protect the environment, and grow a green economy whilst sustaining thriving rural communities. For more information phone 08459 33 55 77.
Environmental Grants from DIY retailer
Through their One Planet Living (OPL) scheme you can apply to your local B&Q store for funding to support community projects around the environment, energy saving, natural habitats, wildlife and local culture or heritage. The scheme provides £50 to £500 of B & Q materials. To apply contact the store manager at your local B & Q store.
The Dulverton Trust
Grants between £25,000 - £35,000 p.a. is available from The Dulverton Trust for the following; Youth and education; General welfare; Conservation; Religion; Preservation; Peace and Security; Africa. Registered charities and organisations with charitable status can apply.
The Garfield Weston Foundation
The Garfield Weston Foundation has grants available of between £3,000 and £1million. They support a wide variety of good causes including: education, the arts, welfare, youth, community, environment, mental health, health, religion (especially church restoration) and others. The Naturesave Trust
The Naturesave Trust has funding available to help communities start to undertake and set up community renewable energy projects. The community should retain as much control as possible over the operating income once the project has been successful.
The Woodland Trust
The Woodland Trust has tree planting packs available for community groups, schools and youth groups. The packs contain either 105 or 420 trees and you can choose the theme of your trees. For more information visit phone 01476 581135.
Green DPD Eco Fund
Through the Green DPD Eco Fund, money is available to charities, community groups, schools, small businesses and other local organisations in the United Kingdom for green projects and environment-friendly initiatives. Applications are being accepted by a national fund that seeks to enable the delivery of green projects and environmental initiatives by local organisations in the United Kingdom. Grants in the form of a donation of up to £2,000 are available.
To be eligible for a donation from the fund, applications must be made on behalf of a:
- Third sector organisation.
- Charity.
- School.
- Community organisation.
- Small or medium enterprise with less than 10 employees.
Each application must be accompanied by a quote(s) for the goods or services for which the donation is going to be used.
