In the initial stages please speak to a member of our housing strategy or development management teams. Our housing development and enabling officer will be able to give guidance as to local housing need, requirements for affordable housing on proposed developments and an indication of likely commuted sum payment required. 

You may also find it useful to talk to a registered provider at an early stage of your considerations. We have a list of preferred registered providers who we work with throughout East Devon and can give you contact details.

You should be aware that our development management service does make a charge for pre application advice.

However, we don't charge for advice about sites that are entirely for affordable housing.
