Community Development aims to improve opportunities for East Devon Homes tenants', their families and their communities. Mostly we can be found delivering or organising programmes and events for young people, families, supported tenants and working age people across our housing estates.

We do this in several ways -

  • We run ‘SWITCH’ youth clubs, in Littleham Exmouth, Millwey Axminster and Heathpark Honiton.
  • During the summer we run Fundays and festivals at various locations across the district.
  • We have established community orchards in several locations.
  • We run and support some Christmas events. We deliver mentoring support for adults looking to get back into work and young people struggling at school.
  • We run other one-off events and short-term programmes in areas of need.

We often work in partnership with other areas of the council or outside groups. Sometimes we support our partners to deliver programmes that will benefit our tenants and their communities. We also work closely with Local Actions Groups (LAGS) and Early Help in order to link in with other professionals and ensure the best outcomes for local areas and local people.
