Communal garden planting with volunteers at Dray Court
Communal garden planting with volunteers at Dray Court

If you have a project that benefits a number of EDDC tenants you can apply for a grant from the Community Initiative Fund. You don’t need to be part of a recognised group to apply.

If you would like to apply for a community grant please contact Tenant Participation at tenantparticipation@eastdevon.gov.uk or call 01395 517453.

Some projects that have been supported include a bench, plants for a communal garden or a community event.

Funds awarded this year:

- Dray Court, Exmouth

Having raised several hundred pounds in donations of plants and equipment already, their application for a wildflower garden was an ideal match. Adding a shed to store supplies and encourage participation.

- Trumps Court, Sidmouth

Wanted to take ownership of their communal garden so applied for a garden shed to store their supplies and some plants to fill out the garden beds.

- Friends of Orchard Close, Sidford

Working with their neighbours to create a communal garden space that can be enjoyed by all ages they applied for a shed and compost for some new raised beds to grow food.

- Tully gardens, Sidmouth

A group of neighbours working together to improve their communal gardens. Just starting out with clearing and planting some daffodil bulbs. We look forward to seeing this project come together.

- Woodbury Social Group

Having looked after some planters outside of the community centre for years now the community initiative funding has given them a freshen up and new lease of life.
