If you smell gas within your home or your carbon monoxide detector activates, you should follow the following steps –

  • Open all windows & doors
  • Turn off all fuel burning appliances and leave the house
  • Don’t switch on any electrics or lights
  • If you are able to isolate the gas safely please do so by turning it off at the emergency control valve which is usually located next to the gas meter
  • Once outside call Wales & West Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 and do not re-enter the property
  • If you feel ill or exhibit any of the following symptoms,  headaches, dizziness, breathlessness, nausea please seek urgent medical attention
