Reactive Repairs

As always, we are committed to providing our full service to our tenants, whilst keeping you and our employees as safe as possible.

If we’re due to carry out a repair or visit you over the coming weeks, please follow social distancing rules and if you can, you’ll need to stay in another room for the entire visit. If that’s not possible, please wear a face covering at all times. Our colleagues will also ask for windows to be left open in the area they’re working in to help keep you and them safe.

We’ve put together this video to give you an idea of what to expect when we visit your home.

Our priority is to ensure that you and our employees are kept safe. If you are displaying coronavirus symptoms or self-isolating and we are due to visit you, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can rearrange the visit.

We are currently taking the below precautions:

  • Operatives will be wearing PPE
  • Tenants will be questioned about COVID-19 symptoms on the phone prior to appointment
  • Tenants will be requested to wait in another room whilst repair / service is carried out

Gas Safety Checks

Every year, people die and are seriously injured by poorly maintained gas appliances. We are making every effort to abide by statutory safety obligations, such as annual gas safety inspections, particularly as people are spending most of their time at home.

If you or your household are self-isolating due to Covid-19 symptoms or have been contacted by Track & Trace, you should inform the Housing Repairs team who will rearrange for the gas service to take place after your isolation period has ended.

We still have a statutory duty to carry out the gas servicing in your home to ensure your gas appliances are safe and our Gas Servicing Contractor, Liberty Gas has put a number of measures in place to ensure tenant’s and their safety.

Our operatives will ask a set of pre-screening questions before carrying out any works and will adhere to the Government Advice on Working in Occupied Homes.
To ensure there is a two metre distance at all times, the operative may ask you to move into another room in the property if possible while works are carried out.
Further, the operative will wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure all surfaces are wiped down.

Should anyone have concerns regarding their gas service please call our Housing Repairs Team on 01395 517458 to discuss further. If you smell gas, or if you have concerns about the safety of your appliances, you should call the gas emergency service provider on 0800 111 999, and switch off appliances until the gas emergency supplier, or a registered gas engineer, has attended and advised that the appliances are safe to use.
