Our private sector housing team is responsible for investigating, maintaining, enforcing and improving housing standards and conditions in the private housing sector. This sector includes private rented, owner occupied and housing association accommodation.  Our purpose is Better Housing Better Health.

We provide advice, assistance and (if appropriate) enforcement on the following:

• Private rented property
• Private water supplies
• Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs)
• Energy efficiency
• Empty homes
• Financial assistance
• Caravan sites

With the exception of serious hazards, we aim to work informally with landlords and occupiers. This can be education, raising awareness, advice or signposting to other agencies.
