There will be free pizza, drinks and a big spruce up at a Honiton community and social value day, being held for residents living in sheltered and neighbouring accommodation.
The event, being held by East Devon District Council (EDDC) and Ian Williams, was originally set to take place at St Paul’s Estate, on St Paul's Road, on Friday 21 October, between 11am and 4.30pm.
Due to weather, the event has been postponed until Thursday, 24 November. It will also now take place at Dunning Court (EX14 1FQ) instead of St Paul's Estate also.
The ‘spruce up’ will see overgrown areas trimmed back, de-weeded and new planters made and fitted.
There will also be a free skip for residents to use, as well handymen and women who will be able to carry out small repairs for residents on the day or inspect properties to book in larger works.
A local pizza van will also be giving out free pizza, thanks to EDDC’s contactors Ian Williams which will also be providing other refreshments – including tea, coffee and cold drinks.
Special advisors from the local food bank and ECOE will also be there on the day, to help offer support to residents struggling with the cost of living crisis. ECOE will be able to provide lots of information and support on making your home more energy efficient.
Councillor Dan Ledger, EDDC’s portfolio holder for sustainable homes and communities, said:
EDDC and Ian Williams are back again for what I hope will be another hugely successful community event, this time in Honiton.
Please come along to chat, engage or even to lend a helping hand. We'll be around all day to help where we can and I'm looking forward to seeing as many of you there as possible!
Please also keep an eye out for our other social value days in the not-too-distant future, Axminster has our Christmas spot this year.
