Kara Williams receiving her swimming teacher of the year award

LED Community Leisure is extremely proud to announce that our inspirational instructor Kara Williams has been named Swim Teacher of the Year at the prestigious Swim England National Awards.

Delivering swimming lessons at Exmouth Leisure Centre, while also working at the Deaf Community as a communications support worker, Kara has dedicated a career to championing diversity and inclusivity through supporting children with additional needs.

Having completed a British Sign Language qualification Kara also provides additional support to disabled learners in the form of communication lessons, while presenting in BSL for Deaf swimmers.

Swim England recognises teachers across the UK who are motivated to go the extra mile in order to deliver the best quality inclusive learning experience for swimmers, and Kara’s dedication through over 600 lessons resulted in the prestigious award for Swim Teacher of the Year during the live ceremony.

A spokesperson for Swim England said:
“The awards recognise and celebrate the incredible spirit of aquatics by showcasing individuals, groups and organisations for their passion, dedication and outstanding commitment”.

LED Community Leisure were also delighted to reward Kara for Outstanding Achievement, sponsored by Bigwave Marketing, during the LED Awards Ceremony.
