Have your say on additional housing and employment sites in the Further Local Plan consultation

Share your feedback on proposed additional housing and employment sites across East Devon.

These sites have been submitted for consideration since East Devon District Council’s (EDDC) previous Local Plan consultation in early 2023.

The Local Plan is the key document used to make planning decisions in East Devon, so it is vital that residents let EDDC know what they think of the proposals.

The consultation launched on 16 May 2024, and residents have until 5pm on Thursday, 27 June 2024 to share their thoughts online at eastdevon.gov.uk/local-plan.

A number of sites across East Devon have been identified as preferred locations for new housing. A summary of the appropriateness of each of the sites has been provided by EDDC, including the forecast impact of the developments on local infrastructure, as well as their natural and historic surroundings. Residents are encouraged to share their views on the New Housing and Mixed Use Site Allocations proposals.

Room for new and existing businesses to expand is expected to encourage investment in high value jobs, boosting skills and wages locally. That is why EDDC is ensuring that enough land is set aside for business uses, such as storage and distribution. For more details and the proposed locations of these employment sites, visit the New Employment Site Allocations section of the consultation.

Consultation feedback will help inform and refine the Local Plan as it progresses to a final draft, which EDDC hopes to consult on towards the end of 2024. It will then be subject to a public examination by a government-appointed planning inspector.
