A day in the life of the East Devon Business Centre

Learn how the East Devon Business Centre supports local businesses with a range of services and facilities

The East Devon Business Centre first opened its doors to local businesses in November 1998, so next year it will have seen 20 years of continuous service, offering modern, flexible office space, which is available to rent on a monthly basis. It also has larger training, conference, meeting and networking space for business tenants and others to hire.

Business is brisk at the Business Centre, which is part of and supported by the teams of the Regeneration and Property Service. All but one of its 19 offices are occupied by local businesses and services. It also has conference and meeting rooms, which are suitable for everything from away-days, presentations and training, to workshops and seminars for both private and public sector organisations. Its light and airy 50 square metre reception space is ideal for displaying artwork and any art exhibited is charged on a sale commission basis only, which makes it popular with local artists.

One of the East Devon Business Centre’s aims is to help local businesses flourish, whether they are long term tenants or occasional users of its facilities. New services and opportunities for local businesses are frequently being introduced, such as the East Devon Jelly, an informal co-working event where freelancers, home workers and small/micro business owners bring their laptops and work, chat and collaborate with other small business owners.

East Devon has a high proportion of SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises) and the provision of modern adaptable business space is an important part of growing the local economy. The business centre is supported by the teams of the Regeneration and Property Service who provide a welcoming and informed service to all users and visitors.

East Devon Economic Development Manager, Drew Aspinwall, said:

I am very proud that the space that we offer at the business centre is still relevant and valued by local businesses. We’ve helped businesses move away from initial start-up (often home based) by providing space to employ more people, meet clients and offer new services.

The East Devon Business Centre is designed and built to support and nurture local businesses. So if you’re in Honiton, do drop by and say hello, we’d love to see you. The centre is very well located and accessible (just off the A30 on the outskirts of Honiton with ample parking space.
