One of the water voles released at Seaton Wetlands

The release of over 200 water voles at Seaton Wetlands captured the attention of the media

Our Countryside team had their hands full on Tuesday 4 September, when, they and the Axe Vale & District Conservation Society, released more than 200 water voles at Seaton Wetlands as part of a major reintroduction programme to boost the population. Water voles around the country have suffered from predators such as mink and a loss of wetland habitats, so the beautiful site at Seaton and the Axe Estuary is ideal for them. BBC Spotlight and ITV Westcountry were there to film the release too and the activity received widespread media coverage.
