A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for Storm Bert, which is expected to impact the East Devon area over the next 48 hours.
We are likely to see heavy rain and strong winds, with the potential for some flooding and disruption to travel. The forecast is showing an improvement in conditions from the start of next week.
Over the course of the weekend, please take care and remember to:
- Keep an eye on the weather forecast and Environment Agency advice. The Met Office share weather warnings, and you can sign up to receive these and flood alerts in your inbox.
- Check before your travel, in case roads and public transport routes are affected. Follow Devon County Council's Roads and Transport Team's Devon Alert pages on social media.
- Report highways issues like flooding, blocked drains and fallen trees to Devon County Council.
- Help rough sleepers to access support by reporting sightings to StreetLink or our Housing Options team (0330 6782382 outside office hours).
- Be careful if you’re out visiting the coast, or one of our parks, or open spaces.
- Look out for friends, family, and neighbours, who may need extra support.
- Make a note of emergency contact numbers for services like water, electricity (105 for power cuts), and repairs.
