Discovery Hut Volunteers are the public face at the Seaton Wetlands. They are there to great visitors to the site and give them information about the wildlife that can be seen as well as providing refreshments.

The volunteers welcome people to the Wetlands and answer enquiries about the site, handing out maps and events guides.

An interest in wildlife and/ or birds is essential but expertise is not expected... being a warden is a great place to learn more!

The wardens serve teas and coffees, show people the resources at the centre including the Nature Table and collect visitor data.

Most of the Discovery Hut wardens are trained to hire out the tramper, an off road mobility scooter available for use at Seaton Wetlands for people with limited mobility. The wardens also hire out Pond dipping equipment.

The Discovery Hut is open 10am to 4pm, Saturday to Monday throughout the year.

Shift patterns and hours vary throughout the year. You can be flexible and choose your shifts and how much you'd like to get involved. You will volunteer in a pair with another volunteer whenever possible, booking is via the online volunteer portal.

All of the volunteers are offered Tramper training, first aid training and there are plenty of social events throughout the year.

If you're interested in volunteering, please email wild@eastdevon.gov.uk and you will be contacted by Amelia to get involved
